Dave is a highly accomplished health, safety and environmental professional, as well as an author and speaker with over twenty years of leadership experiences in diverse industrial organizations. He worked as a General Superintendent for a general contractor and was responsible for all aspects of field operations including safety and customer relations. His passion and talent for training and working with operations personnel helped him in the development of a proactive safety culture.
In 1978 Dave became a member of the Clarence Volunteer Fire Department. During his career with the volunteer fire service, he quickly earned various officers ranks including Assistant Chief and Chief. He later served on the Clarence Fire District’s board of fire commissioners.
Concurrently with his career as a safety professional, in 1992 he accepted the town supervisor’s appointment as Emergency Coordinator for the Town of Clarence, NY. He has been responsible for providing emergency support and guidance on a number of large-scale emergencies including anhydrous ammonia releases, chemical plant explosion and fire, regional heavy snowstorms and long-term power outages.
Dave’s most recent high-profile accomplishment was the successful coordination of the response to the crash of Continental Airlines flight 3407 which crashed on February 12, 2009, killing all forty-nine persons on board and one person on the ground. As the towns emergency coordinator, Dave was charged with the responsibility for overall incident coordination including fire ground support to the Fire Chief, evacuation and the needs of the residents, recovery, investigation and the planning and execution of the neighborhood-remediation strategy.
Dave’s enthusiastic and strong communication skills are effective for any company in need of a stronger performance and safety culture. Passion for change, improving quality of life, and making a difference are all qualities Dave possesses.
Bissonette is married to Traci Bissonette, Owner/Stylist of Montage Hair Design. The couple and their two Jack Russells live in Clarence, NY.
